Profile
Bi-lingual and bi-cultural licensed psychologist. I strive to provide a different therapy experience and consider our connection an essential part of treatment – this doesn’t mean we always agree, but we are able to explore challenges together. My approach to therapy is based on an ethical process. After initial evaluation we will develop a plan. You will be offered options that have been shown to work for most people, and together we will decide what may be helpful for you. You can find out more about me at the Infinity Behavioral Health – Kretchman and Associates, PLLC website (infbh.com), and I am available for a free initial call.
People come to treatment for different reasons. We generally manage in life, but sometimes encounter challenges. I use physical health as an analogy: if you have a headache, you may take something for pain, or if you cut your finger, you’ll clean and bandage it. In those cases, no need for a physician. On the other hand, if your appendix is inflamed, go see a physician rather than watching a video on how to remove it yourself. Psychology is similar: feeling nervous before an event is natural. However, if that feeling keeps us from an activity we want to do, it may be worth learning alternative ways to manage it.
More information:
- One important way to resolve challenges is to add new skills. Often, we act in a certain way, because that’s what we know. Maybe they worked in the past but aren’t working for what you currently want.
- I consider understanding interventions an important part of treatment and will do my best to clarify any questions.
- Life perspective. Each person has their way of looking at life. I believe it is important to incorporate yours into our work.
- Some areas I can help with include treatment of trauma, insomnia, chronic pain, anxiety and stress, mood disorders such as depression, adjustment to life changes, and compulsive behaviors. I have also had success assisting with challenges regulating emotions, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. You can learn about other areas I may be able to help with at https://infbh.com/about/) – if you have a problem not listed feel free to reach out and we can discuss it.
- Individual and group treatment for family members of people with sexual compulsions (addictions) are available.
