Avi Steinhardt, LCSW has over 15 years of experience working with couples and individual patients with dispositions that span the mental health continuum. Avi utilizes a dynamic blend of interventions, tailored to each client’s unique needs and presentation, though the approach is primarily informed by his training as a Gestalt Therapist. Also incorporates elements of Depth Psychology, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, some IFS techniques, and CBT if completely necessary.
Psychotherapy has very different meanings depending on the practitioner. Many skilled therapists approach this work systematically and with methodical precision- I sometimes refer to them as “knobs and levers therapists”. For many people, that is exactly what they need. Other therapists approach therapy itself as an art, and I count myself among them.
I seek a poetics of the therapeutic process, understanding that neither the psyche nor our relationships are particularly linear. The etymology of Psychotherapy is “attendant to the soul”.
