This 2-hour workshop on January 9th, 11:30 AM Pacific / 2:30 PM Eastern will offer critical insight and knowledge about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and the importance of Jewish cultural and clinical competency. Salient themes will include discernment between cultural markers and clinical concerns, commonly experienced obsessions/compulsions in Jewish patients being treated for OCD, holding the dual realities of intrusive symptoms and warranted worries, and the role of folklore and superstition-based ritual in Jewish culture.
Dr. Michelle Witkin is a renowned OCD specialist bringing a wealth of knowledge and insight to the Jewish Therapist Collective. She frequently gives of her time in the JTC-sponsored “Ask A Jewish Therapist” weekly consultation group, a space where clinicians can find non-judgmental insight and support on Jewish clinical and cultural competency issues.
