As a trauma-informed (PCTI) therapist, I am heavily influenced by Viktor Frankl, a Nazi Concentration Camp Survivor, psychiatrist, and founder of Logotherapy. Logotherapy is anchored in the belief that a person’s primary motivational force is to find a sense of meaning or purpose in one’s life—but the lack thereof, leaves the individual experiencing meaninglessness and may spiral downward into anxiety, depression, substance use, PTSD, and other mental health issues.
October 7, 2023 and the ensuing onslaught of Jew- and Israel-hatred has triggered painful memories of the Holocaust and the complex trauma already being experienced by most Jews, the world over. The same can be said about the trauma experienced in the “coming- out” process of LGBTQ Community members and the re-triggering of their trauma by recent cultural, political, and legal backsliding. As a trauma-informed therapist, I have found that EMDR has proven to be highly effective in the treatment of identity-based, historical, complex, and inherited trauma.
In addition, I facilitate various groups, from Second-Generation of Holocaust Survivors, Gray, Gay, and Coming-Out, and those who are feeling insecure, hopeless and helpless by the recent re-emergence of antisemitism, anti-Zionism, and anti-Israelism. Group therapy can give you a sense of belonging, hope, and altruism. It can also provide a sounding board and social support, and help you learn from and be influenced by your peers.
With 15 years of experience and certifications in various modalities, together, our work will refocus you and your life and invigorate it with purpose and meaning.
