Profile
Living as a human in this world can feel really damn hard sometimes. Whether you are struggling with feeling content at work, having difficulties in your relationships, or feeling like you aren’t sure who you even are anymore – it can feel so hard to figure out what to do. Many of us sit in our anxiety, grief, and unhappiness for quite some time before trying to decide if we are worthy of help. The truth is that you deserve help figuring out the things that are keeping you disconnected from living a life that feels most meaningful to you.
I believe that the most important part of coming to see a therapist is the relationship that we will develop – and it’s most important to me that you feel the therapy room (virtually or in person) is a safe space where there is no judgment and a strong belief in your lived experience. You are the expert on you, and you get to choose the way that you want your life to look. I often do a lot of work with my clients around the “rules” that they have been taught all of their lives, and how to figure out if they actually want to follow those rules, or carve out a new path for themselves.
I don’t think that there is one right way to do therapy – meaning I pull from many different therapeutic modalities in the work that I do. Together we will get to know what makes you tick and what you are interested in shifting, and will figure out the best way to approach healing. Healing also looks different for everyone – this can range from changing patterns, identifying negative core beliefs, processing past traumas, or even just having a safe place to process emotions that you are feeling. If you are interested in different modalities, I am trained in Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, and ACT, to name a few that I love!
Although I see clients with a variety of things that they want to work on, I have speciality training in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, chronic dieting, and body image work. I approach this from a Health at Every Size (HAES), anti-diet, and weight neutral lens. I think that all bodies are worthy of care and compassion regardless of size, ethnicity, race, or gender identity. I am also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and love using this approach to help folks work on improving their relationship with food, body, and themselves.
Outside of therapy sessions I love crafting (especially things involving yarn), cooking all sorts of foods, trying to get better at yoga (it doesn’t always go well!), and listening to my favorite musicians (happy to discuss any Taylor Swift lyrics in session). I look forward to connecting with you and helping you live a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with what you value most.
