I work with individuals and couples, and treat people struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and problems/conflicts in relationships (personal and/or professional). I also work with people dealing with difficult life transitions and disruptions involving different forms of grief and loss.
I was trained in a psychodynamic model of psychotherapy which means that I believe in the importance of early relationships and experiences in shaping how we view ourselves, what we expect from ourselves and others, and how we interact with the world around us. I believe everyone has a rich inner life which is informed by multiple factors: the past and the present, innate characteristics, family relationships and external life situations. I seek to understand the complexities of each person’s personality and glean how they may be repeating patterns from the past in the present, while taking into account the specifics of their current situation. My goal is to help people know and understand themselves better so that they have more mastery over their choices and how they function in life and relate to others.
