My practice focuses on “what’s right with you” and not “what’s wrong with you.” Too many people overlook positive effort and meaningful contributions, and instead focus on deficits. People do better when they feel better and by leveraging strengths against challenges, clients are much more able to grow and create manageable and satisfying lives.
I have worked with neurodivergent and neurotypical K12 and college students for over 15 years on discovering their skills and assets, their learning styles, social styles, preferences, opinions and everything else that makes them uniquely who they are.
With a background as a K12 School Counselor, I have a special passion for working with youth dealing with school motivation or academic and learning issues, to guide them to leverage their strengths toward their college and career goals.
I integrate developing students’ executive function skills to manage life more successfully with ADHD or organizational challenges. Beth also works with college students who need support transitioning into and persisting in college and beyond.
By helping to build greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, life and school can become more manageable, college and career goals get clarified, relationships become more straightforward and life in general is easier. Most importantly, I focus on interpersonal communications which enables clients to live with and enjoy others more effectively.
No one benefits from “one-size-fits-all” support. In fact, it can be insulting. We are all way more than any label. My goal therefore, is to collaborate on tools and strategies that uniquely work for each client on their journey to living a personally meaningful life.
I am an optimist, a glass-half full person with unlimited patience, but I also strive to make rapid progress so my clients can get on with their lives!
