I am a Reconstructionist (raised Reform) Jewish therapist in private practice, licensed in New Jersey and Florida, accepting telehealth clients on a limited basis. I am interested in supporting Jewish clients as we face unprecedented times. I am an interpersonal trauma specialist, and have been doing trauma work for many years. I have a special interest in working with the grown children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, who are a unique and complex population with issues specific to being raised in the shadow of that particular trauma. However, I have a general practice and can attend to a wide variety of needs. I believe wholly in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship, and the change and understanding that stems from a client putting their trust in someone who cares deeply about them and their life experience. In terms of working with Jewish clients, it can be especially important to feel a shared sense of understanding, knowledge, and cultural background without having to speak or explain it. There is a “shorthand” that can immediately facilitate comfort in the therapeutic space, which is so important in these times. I welcome the opportunity to be a safe space for Jewish clients and to help navigate whatever life has brought their way, from the past through the present with an eye to the future.
