Jewish Therapist Mentor Match
A program to serve grad students and allow tenured therapists (and other clinicians and academics) the chance to mentor and connect with those new to the field!!!
Grad school, especially in mental health and other clinical professions, should be an exciting time, full of learning and growth and passion for the field. However, for many Jewish grad students, the experience includes antisemitic experiences like erasure, microaggression, and a curriculum that trades honest history of our legacy in the field with catchy soundbites that reduce and erase our culture, heritage, and contributions.
The Jewish Therapist Collective has been advocating for Jewish grad students’ needs and informally matching grad students with licensed professionals whose credentials, location, or clinical interests overlap since we started our community in 2020. The logical next step, with the growth of our community and an outpouring of need from grad students in this distressing time, was to expand our Mentor Match program to serve more grad students and allow more of our therapists the chance to mentor and connect!
Are you a therapist who wants to support a grad student or two through the journey and help make it meaningful and amazing? Do you want the chance to impart wisdom and comfort you wish you’d gotten, or give back what was given to you?
Are you a grad student who would LOVE to have a mentor to bounce ideas off of, vent about what rubs you the wrong way, and learn about how to move forward in the field to create the future you want and serve a community you love?
We are always welcoming new volunteers, so if you’re service minded and would love the support of a great peer community, we’d love to hear from you!
