Description
We are pleased to invite you to the launch of “Social Work and Antisemitism: Issues and Interventions” by Dr. Carole Cox, MSW, Ph.D, Fordham University and Dr. Dana Marlowe, PhD, LCSW, Fordham University, published by Springer Press. This timely text on social work and antisemitism fills an important gap in the field of social work and also bears relevance to a range of allied health fields.
The ethics and framework of the social work profession demand that it confront oppression and prejudice while working for a socially just society. However, education on antisemitism is seldom included in social work curriculum or in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. This text addresses this need for education and intervention, and includes a teaching guide for use in social work curriculum as well as social work practice.
We invite all therapists, social workers and practitioners from allied health professions to learn about this groundbreaking resource, and get input, particularly relevant for those who are struggling in their discipline when antisemitism and its human cost is ignored.
This event provides clinicians with the opportunity to dialogue with leading experts on the topic of antisemitism, educators/activists bringing attention to the importance of studying and fighting this modern day ill. The authors will present an overview of their resource, and will engage in discussion, addressing questions and sharing lessons learned about how practitioners can bring their concerns to DEI departments or activate in other meaningful ways.
