Advocacy – Letter Writing & More
Our writing blends traditional advocacy foci with mental health impacts of media discourse to deliver compelling messaging for resonant change.
One of our biggest strengths over the last few years has been the effectiveness of our communications in advocacy. We’ve gotten antisemitic content removed from a licensure exam, helped mend harmful behavior toward Jewish graduate students, and collaborated to build insight and remedy harms from well-meaning but not Jewish influencers in the mental health care space. We’ve also presented at conferences in furtherance of Jewish visibility, inclusion, and accurate representation.
We’re ramping up our letter writing advocacy and have formed a committee to send out communications to celebrate and amplify when the Jewish community is respected and supported, call in and hold accountable organizations and individuals who miss the mark, and provide insight and information to the media. Our writing blends traditional advocacy foci with the mental health impacts and consequences of various pieces of media discourse to deliver a compelling call to action to those in positions of power, for resonant change.
If you would like to submit any organizations’ or individuals’ statements for consideration of a response from the Jewish Therapist Collective and/or would like to volunteer for the letter writing committee, please fill out the form below!
We are always welcoming new volunteers, so if you’re service minded and would love the support of a great peer community, we’d love to hear from you!
